Trip leaders often send emails out to alert students to upcoming trips before sign ups open. <\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-bates-shortcodes-btn btn-wrap  is-style-dark-blue\" id=\"46b7e59b-1d19-48d6-81f0-90954c6b06c0\"><div class=\"btn-action\" role=\"button\" tabindex=\"0\" aria-controls=\"46b7e59b-1d19-48d6-81f0-90954c6b06c0\" aria-pressed=\"false\" aria-expanded=\"false\"><h3 class=\"btn-title\">How do I become a BOC Trip Leader?<\/h3><div class=\"btn-arrow\"><\/div><\/div><div class=\"btn-content\" id=\"46b7e59b-1d19-48d6-81f0-90954c6b06c0\">\n<p>To become a trip leader for the Outing Club, students must complete Trip Leader Training (TLT), which is offered once a semester. This training take approximately 60-70 hours and includes the following components:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Wilderness First Aid <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Classroom Training<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Field Training<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-bates-shortcodes-btn btn-wrap  is-style-dark-blue\" id=\"6b9b1e1f-c28c-4b53-ae94-8bfe9611035e\"><div class=\"btn-action\" role=\"button\" tabindex=\"0\" aria-controls=\"6b9b1e1f-c28c-4b53-ae94-8bfe9611035e\" aria-pressed=\"false\" aria-expanded=\"false\"><h3 class=\"btn-title\">Do I have to have outdoor experience to go on a BOC trip?<\/h3><div class=\"btn-arrow\"><\/div><\/div><div class=\"btn-content\" id=\"6b9b1e1f-c28c-4b53-ae94-8bfe9611035e\">\n<p>No! While we do offer some trips that require previous experience, many of the BOC trips are open to all skill levels. We even offer introductory level trips\/courses for students who want to gain skill in specific outdoor activities.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-bates-shortcodes-btn btn-wrap  is-style-dark-blue\" id=\"f0d7218d-ae4b-4ddf-a9c5-f4eaa5923b81\"><div class=\"btn-action\" role=\"button\" tabindex=\"0\" aria-controls=\"f0d7218d-ae4b-4ddf-a9c5-f4eaa5923b81\" aria-pressed=\"false\" aria-expanded=\"false\"><h3 class=\"btn-title\">Are there ways to get involved in the BOC other than being a trip leader?<\/h3><div class=\"btn-arrow\"><\/div><\/div><div class=\"btn-content\" id=\"f0d7218d-ae4b-4ddf-a9c5-f4eaa5923b81\">\n<p>Yes. We have positions on our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bates.edu\/outing-club\/leadership-team\/\">Leadership Team<\/a> that do not require any trip leading experience.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-bates-shortcodes-btn btn-wrap  is-style-dark-blue\" id=\"4254c204-eb96-4349-be5c-630e76ea9651\"><div class=\"btn-action\" role=\"button\" tabindex=\"0\" aria-controls=\"4254c204-eb96-4349-be5c-630e76ea9651\" aria-pressed=\"false\" aria-expanded=\"false\"><h3 class=\"btn-title\">How often does the BOC have club meetings?<\/h3><div class=\"btn-arrow\"><\/div><\/div><div class=\"btn-content\" id=\"4254c204-eb96-4349-be5c-630e76ea9651\">\n<p>Every other Wednesday at 6:30pm.
