Testing trends, streaming content, and more

Hello, Bates Families –

Students have received an update on campus testing trends. Thank you for your support as they returned to in-person classes this past week.

We also share the following resources with you today:

  • It is a long-standing Bates tradition to observe Martin Luther King Jr. Day with a campus-wide event that includes speakers, panel discussions, and more. Hear this year’s keynote panel discuss decolonization and liberation, and enjoy this year’s interfaith service.
  • A number of families have asked how to order free government-sponsored COVID tests to be sent directly to their Bates students. Our colleagues in Post & Print tell us that “this is going to be a national challenge  for colleges and universities because dorms/residence halls, along with our central receiving, are classified as commercial addresses. This means students can’t order the free tests or masks with their Bates addresses. We are reaching out to other institutions to ascertain if there are possible solutions to this challenge..” We will continue to share any updates with families.
  • It’s been a cold week on campus, but Bobcat athletes have been on a hot streak! Livestream winter sports competitions here.

With best regards,
The Bates Parent Team
