Your students have moved into their residence halls and houses, completed Orientation, and returned from their AESOP adventures. They are officially Batesies, beginning their own journey here on campus.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bates.edu\/news\/2026\/08\/28\/move-in-day\/\">Relive Arrival Day with our photo story \u2192<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:36px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Opening Convocation<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The academic year began with Opening Convocation, a Bates tradition, on Tuesday, Sept. 1.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Students heard words of welcome and wisdom from President Garry Jenkins, Bates College Student Government co-presidents Ava Steinberger \u201927 and Mohammad Zayd \u201927, and Whitehouse Professor of Psychology Amy Bradfield Douglass. Convocation concluded with a Benediction from Multifaith Chaplain Rob Benson.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:36px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Clubs, Orgs &amp; Jobs Fair<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Remind your student to check out the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/engage.bates.edu\/fye\/rsvp_boot?id=386723&amp;rel=title\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Bates Leads Clubs, Orgs &amp; Jobs Fair<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0<strong>tonight, Sept. 2, from 8\u201310 p.m.<\/strong>\u00a0More than 70 clubs, organizations, offices, and departments will be there to help students explore the many ways to get involved at Bates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:36px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Orientation Webinars<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Our Family Orientation Webinars are designed to help you support your student as they settle into life at Bates.
