Three physics majors\u00a0have been accepted into summer research programs<\/p>\n
Jocelyn Hoye ’15\u00a0received one of eleven\u00a0fellowships given out by the American Association of Physicists in\u00a0Medicine, which she has chosen to use to do summer work with a\u00a0group doing medical physics (Radiation Oncology) at the University of California — San Francisco.\u00a0 Only 20% of the applicants were awarded fellowships, and each winner got to chose the research program in which they wanted to participate.\u00a0The AAPM is the governing body of all of the medical physics\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 programs in Canada and they United States.<\/p>\n
Emily Clark\u00a0’15 was admitted to a summer\u00a0program funded by the National Science Foundation called the “Research Experience for Undergraduates” (REU).\u00a0 Emily will be\u00a0spending the summer working at Indiana University in a group that studies dark matter in astrophysics.<\/p>\n
Andrew Briggs ’15 won one of the\u00a0prestigious “Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowships” (SURF) at the National Institute for Science and Technology (NIST) in\u00a0Gaithersburg MD.\u00a0 He will be working in the Physical Measurements\u00a0Laboratory.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
