He has also taught at Dartmouth\u2019s Tuck School of Business.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Before joining American University, Marchick served in the Biden administration as the chief operating officer of the United States Development Finance Corporation. He was also an advisor to President Biden\u2019s transition team. He hosted the podcast&nbsp;<em>Transition Lab<\/em>&nbsp;and co-authored a book,&nbsp;<em>The Peaceful Transition of Power: An Oral History of America\u2019s Presidential Transitions<\/em>&nbsp;(2022). During the Clinton administration, Marchick held several government positions focused in the areas of transportation and trade.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He spent 12 years at the Carlyle Group as managing director and as a member of Carlyle\u2019s Management Committee. In that role, he oversaw the investment firm\u2019s regulatory and government affairs, communications and branding, and sustainability efforts among other areas. Before joining Carlyle, Marchick was a partner at the law firm Covington &amp; Burling, focusing on international trade.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Marchick has served on numerous corporate and non-profit boards including the Holocaust Memorial Museum and is currently co-chair of the National Council of the National Park Foundation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He graduated from the University of California at San Diego and has a law degree from George Washington University as well as a master\u2019s in public affairs from the University of Texas Austin. He and his wife, Pamela Kurland, live in Washington, D.C.
