Purposeful Work Mini-Grant Program

Purposeful Work Mini-Grants are available to student groups seeking to host or participate in activities that align with the goals of Purposeful Work, and to individuals seeking to host such activities.

Work is purposeful when it contributes meaning to an individual’s life and has relevance beyond the individual. Work that is meaningful for one person might not be for someone else. Our goal is to equip students with the skills, mindsets, self-awareness and mentors that will help them make their own determinations about what will bring meaning to their lives.

Is the PW Mini-Grant Program right for your activity?

Successful proposals will do one or more of the following:
  • Develop attendees’ work-related skills
  • Increase attendees’ awareness of their values, strengths, and interests as they relate to work
  • Increase attendees’ understanding of career trajectory

Funding preference will be given to student organizations, as they have a broader reach than small groups of students or individuals.

This is not the right grant program for you if your activity:
  • Duplicates another activity available to students on campus
  • Develops work-related skills for the organizing group members, but not activity attendees
  • Has already happened

In making award decisions, the Selection Committee reserves the right to consider the overall balance and diversity of opportunities, audiences and participants within the overall grant program.

Here’s How it Works:

Applications are accepted on a rolling basis, and will be reviewed within two weeks of submission.

Proposal Review Process: Review will be by a small committee of staff and faculty. Club officers or lead applicants will be notified by email upon the committee’s decision.

Awards: There is a $300 maximum award per organization per year. Awards will be made by transfer of funds from Purposeful Work to the student organization’s account. In the case of an  award to a non-organized group or club (without an account), reimbursement or advance arrangements will be made with Purposeful Work.

Reporting Process following activity: To help Purposeful Work gauge the impact of the mini-grant program, recipients must complete a brief report back to Purposeful Work within two weeks of the activity using the following form:
