<\/a>How do I get access?<\/h2>\n

Bates faculty can request access via the access request form<\/a>. Faculty members can also use the form to request access for students–student access to Leavitt must be sponsored by a faculty member<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

<\/a>Where should I store my data?<\/h2>\n

Storage in your home directory on Leavitt\u00a0(\/home\/USERNAME), is available on all cluster nodes and is the\u00a0main location for short-term data storage for use on the cluster. Storage here is backed up daily, however storage on compute nodes (e.g. in \/var\/tmp or \/tmp folders) is not, so users should be sure to save job output to another directory once their job is completed.<\/span><\/p>\n

This storage space is intended for active use on the cluster\u2014this is not an appropriate place for long-term data storage. For long-term storage, please transfer your files to the Bates network collaborative file share <\/span>Etna<\/span><\/a>\u00a0or your preferred alternative such as <\/span>Google Drive<\/span><\/a>. <\/span>The advantage of Etna is that it can be accessed easily from Leavitt.<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/a>How do I access the Etna collaborative file share from Leavitt?<\/h2>\n

Etna<\/span><\/h4>\n

To access Etna, login to Leavitt as usual, and then change your directory to \u201c\/usr\/netapp\/etna\/\u201d: <\/span>cd<\/span> \/usr\/netapp\/etna\/<\/span><\/code><\/p>\n

From here you should be able to access your Etna Classes or Scholarship folder.<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/a>How do I access\u00a0Leavitt off-campus?<\/h2>\n

Access to the Leavitt cluster is largely restricted from outside the Bates network. However, access to Leavitt from off-campus is allowed via a VPN:<\/p>\n

  1. You can use a Bates-issued computer with a VPN installed and configured.<\/li>\n
  2. ssh into leavitt.bates.edu<\/strong> with your normal Bates credentials<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    <\/a><\/b>What software is available?<\/h2>\n

    Software available on Leavitt changes rapidly, as new applications and packages are added for users. Please contact\u00a0Michael Hanrahan<\/a>\u00a0if you have questions.<\/p>\n
