Rumford Whitecap Hike

A moderately strenuous hike with steady elevation gain to an exceptional mountain just an hour from campus. The hike features an extensive bald summit with stunning views to the White Mountains and Mahoosuc region. Total distance is about 5 miles with about 1,600′ of elevation gain.

Outing Club: Coastal Hike at Bates-Morse Mountain Conservation Area

Join Conservation Area Director Caitlin Cleaver and alumnus Jerry Donahoe ’82 on a four-mile hike through interesting natural communities and varied terrains to Seawall Beach.  Bates manages this resource for research and educational purposes and is conducting environmental research throughout the area.

Lewiston-Auburn Downtown Walk

This moderately paced walk through the heart of Lewiston features brief narrative stops at several points of interest. Attendees will gain insight on the development of downtown, as well as Bates students’ interactions with the off-campus community. The final stop will be at Baxter Brewing Company. Please wear comfortable shoes.

Enjoy a morning hike through this 357-acre bird sanctuary and wildlife preserve. The highest point in the city, Thorncrag offers great views, spring wildflowers, and excellent birding.

High Intensity Interval Training Circuit Class

Join us for a HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training) circuit class led by Robin Postman Benson ’95. All exercises are able to be modified for different fitness levels/impact restrictions — everyone is welcome! We will have fun, sweat together, and feel FANTASTIC when it’s over! Children are welcome under supervision of a guardian. Open to all classes.

Outing Club: Hike Mount Pisgah

Hike an easy-to-moderate two-mile trail to the summit of 807-foot Mount Pisgah. The 60-foot fire tower at the top offers view of forests, lakes, and the White Mountains. Afterward, you may depart of continue on for Tubby’s ice cream and a hike along the shores of Wilson Pond.
