Bobcat Express Program (Bobcat Safe-ride)

The Bobcat Express is available to students for rides to various locations within a 3-mile radius for community engaged learning programs. The Bobcat Express provides safe and convenient transportation for Bates students. This free shuttle service is also available to students for Doctor’s and Medical appointments, prescription pick-up, and appointments by filling out a Reservation Request Form. Reservations need to be made in advance, and the client should expect to receive a calendar confirmation for that reservation. IMPORTANT NOTE: The Bobcat Express transportation service does NOT provide rides going outside the local area to Portland airport. Students should make those arrangements through outside commercial transportation vendors.

The weekday shuttle runs Monday – Friday from 7:30 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.  with service learning engagements and those medical related reservations taking precedent. This service is not intended to be used as a convenience for providing rides across campus (a medical necessity being the exception).

The Bobcat Express weekday shuttle is not intended to provide rides to various other locations in which the Lewiston – Auburn Shuttle provides during the evenings and weekend services – The weekday mission is different, with Community Engaged Learning and Doctor’s and Medical appointments taking precedent. Students are not to expect that this weekday service will perform as a taxi responding at their beckoning call for transport and pick up for recreational convenience; such extemporaneous transports are set according to the driver’s availability, and will mostly be refused. Those using the shuttle for purposes which are not according to community engaged learning or associated with a reservation for medical appointment should expect there may be a wait or denial of their request.

Weekday calls relating to the Bobcat Express services are directed to call (207) 786-8300.
