An all-gender restroom(s) are restrooms that are considered for any person to use. All-gender multi-occupant restrooms and single-occupant restrooms can benefit many different people, including families, differently abled persons, and trans & nonbinary people. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Historically, restrooms have been a place for harassment, discrimination, and threats of injury and arrest towards transgender people. All-gender restrooms provide an opportunity for our community members to enter a room without being questioned or interrogated. If you are hosting an event in a building with all-gender restrooms, it is common practice to announce to all participants where they are located in that building.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Below, you will find some resources about all-gender restrooms on campus. Many are single stall, locking restrooms, while some in the residence halls are multi-stalled. Signage for these restrooms do not always<\/em> indicate that they are single stall, or all-gender restrooms. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Also note that, not every<\/em> all-gender restrooms is accessible. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Please review this page<\/a> from Bates College’s Residence Life<\/a> which provides names and number of all-gender multi-occupant and single-occupant restrooms that can be located within the Residence Halls and Houses. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Residence halls and houses are currently only accessible to current Bates students.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n There are many campus buildings that have single-occupant restrooms, and these continue to grow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Please note this list continues to be updated.
