{"id":1310,"date":"2014-09-22T14:50:45","date_gmt":"2014-09-22T18:50:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/bco-test.bates.edu\/intercultural\/?p=1310"},"modified":"2020-02-10T11:20:14","modified_gmt":"2020-02-10T16:20:14","slug":"the-secret-history-of-love","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bates.edu\/student-center-belonging-community\/2014\/09\/22\/the-secret-history-of-love\/","title":{"rendered":"The Secret History of Love"},"content":{"rendered":"<blockquote style=\"color: #222222\">\n<div dir=\"ltr\">\n<div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<div>On behalf of the Dance Program and the Dance Festival we would like to invite and encourage you to attend an informal showing of &#8220;The Secret History of Love&#8221; by Sean Dorsey Dance.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Friday, Sept 21 at 5:30-7pm<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Schaeffer Theatre<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>We are thrilled to be collaborating once again to host artist\/activist Sean Dorsey and to be able to open the showing up to the whole campus and LGBTQ\u00a0 community at large.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Sean&#8217;s two-week residency is part one of a yearlong series of visits by Dorsey that will culminate with the East Coast premiere of his newest work next July.<br \/>\n&#8220;The Secret History Of Love&#8221; reveals the underground ways that LGBT people managed to survive and find love in decades past, despite tremendous obstacles. 1920\u2032s speakeasies, wartime love affairs, police raids and steamy underground cabarets explode onstage in this powerful work by transgender trailblazer\u00a0<a style=\"color: #1155cc\" href=\"http:\/\/www.seandorseydance.com\/director\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Sean Dorsey<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Dorsey created &#8220;The Secret History Of Love&#8221; through a 2-year LGBT oral history project.
