ADM: Day Hosting Coordinator (S9984C)
Summary, Scope, and Responsibilities
Because of the importance of the Day Hosting Program, as well as the issue related to high school students spending the day on a college campus, this is an especially serious position demanding hands-on management and a particularly high sense of maturity and responsibility. Day hosting coordinators are supported by the Admissions office, but are given the trust and independence to run the day hosting program with minimal intervention from the Admission supervisor.
EDUCATION: At least one year completed at Bates College
EXPERIENCE: The Day Hosting Coordinator must have strong organization and managerial skills. He or she must also have the ability to deal with emergencies calmly and responsibly, and to work independently as well as with peers and supervisors.
EXPERIENCE: A knack for recruiting and mobilizing student volunteers; some previous experience with the admissions office/overnight hosting program.
Specific responsibilities include, but may not be limited to:
- Ensure that every prospective student has safe and comfortable arrangements for the day.
- Supervise, train, and evaluate a network of volunteer student hosts.
- Serve as the first contact for prospectives, hosts, Admission, and/or security if any problems arise on a visit.
- Meet with co-Day Hosting Coordinator, Overnight Hosting Coordinators, and with the dean in charge on a regular basis.
