Summary, Scope, and Responsibilities


Reporting to the Assistant Dean of Intercultural Education and working within the Office of Intercultural Education (OIE), the OIE Senior Fellow will play an integral student leadership role within the office and across campus to promote and support academic excellence and social transition for all students with a particular focus on students from underrepresented populations.


OIE Fellows must be rising Sophomore, Junior or Senior students who have demonstrated personal and academic growth over their time at Bates.  They must have an interest to further enhance their leadership and knowledge in the following areas: Faculty Connections, Internships and Fellowships, Social Transition, Organizational Success, Financial Literacy, First Generation to College, and Academic Success. GPA will be considered as part of a holistic selection process.  Prior leadership experience on campus is desired.  A commitment to diversity, inclusion and intra/intergroup relations is required.



The Senior OIE Fellow will work closely with staff and OIE Fellows to design and implement workshops and programs that promote inclusive community, ensure academic excellence, and support access to college resources for all students.
