THE: Lead Electrician (S9724C)

Summary, Scope, and Responsibilities

The lead electrician oversees installation of lighting equipment at the direction of the Lighting Designer/Technical Director for all department shows. He or she also solves production challenges as they arise.

Please Note: Some night and weekend commitment is required and the Lead Electrician must attend all Theater Department strikes.

Be a second set of eyes and ears for Technical Director and help keep things safe.

The lead electrician works in the Schaeffer Theater, Gannett Theater, Black Box, and Scenic Shop. He or she must be able to lift 50 lbs. and climb a ladder in excess of twelve feet. The electrician will frequently use wrenches, ladders, cables, theatrical lighting and rigging equipment.

Requirements


The lead electrician must be a Bates student. It is desired that the student has successfully completed Theater 132 and/or 232. Additional theater experience outside Bates and a familiarity with basic electrical wiring methods.
