ON-GOING:<\/p>\n
Every other Thursday during the semester the sustainability office and environmental studies program co-host a lunch where staff, faculty, and students\u00a0can learn about innovative environmental practices and pressing ecological issues facing our society today.\u00a0Lunch is on us!<\/span><\/p>\n The office of sustainability is teaming up with BWell to encourage\u00a0you to get\u00a0out of your car! Each month we’ll highlight a more healthy, more sustainable way to get to work.<\/p>\n Don’t miss the Sustainable Bobcat, our monthly newsletter with all the latest about what’s happening on campus.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n ANNUAL:<\/p>\n Bates\u2019 Office of Sustainability, Dining program and the Theater Department join forces every November to host a Trashion Show where students, faculty and staff participate as designers, as models and judges.<\/p>\n Each spring Bates honors Earth Day by sponsoring a day of service in which students, faculty, staff come together to work on environmental projects at Bates and around L\/A. Pitch in and get your hands dirty!<\/p>\n Every year at the end of Short Term\u00a0Bates\u00a0partners with local non-profit organizations to collect items students leave behind when they move out, faculty and staff donations from home, and items the college no longer needs.\u00a0<\/span>We then sell it all in huge community yard sale.<\/p>\n All of the proceeds from the sale go to participating non-profit organizations.<\/p>\n We work with volunteers from local non-profits to collect, clean, organize and price an arena full of items. The event raises upwards of $17,000 and all of the proceeds go to participating non-profits.\u00a0Moving out?
