{"id":540,"date":"2011-11-22T11:45:40","date_gmt":"2011-11-22T16:45:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.bates.edu\/sustainability\/?page_id=540"},"modified":"2013-03-06T15:00:51","modified_gmt":"2013-03-06T20:00:51","slug":"energy","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.bates.edu\/sustainability\/energy\/","title":{"rendered":"Energy"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In 2009, Bates established an\u00a0Energy Task Force to reduce campus energy consumption and contain rising utility costs.<\/p>\n<p>The Energy Taskforce identifies, prioritizes, and implements\u00a0projects and policies to improve energy efficiency and conservation in existing buildings on campus.<\/p>\n<p>The task force is a boots-on-the-ground group, comprised primarily of Facility Services staff who work directly with the mechanical, plumbing, lighting, and heating infrastructure on campus to ensure that it runs efficiently and effectively, and staff and faculty who are interested in working with the campus community to use energy more sustainably. The group also welcomes participation from students.
