The Department of Theater and Dance is thrilled to announce that Courtney Smith will be joining us as Associate Professor of Design, Technology, and Management beginning in the 24-25 academic year! He will be offering courses theater technology and design, as well as serving as the Production Manager for the department’s performance season. Welcome, Courtney! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

COURTNEY SMITH<\/strong> is a lighting, digital media designer, and production manager whose work spans many genre & media including live theater, dance, tv, film, and events. Courtney\u2019s work has been seen in theaters from coast to coast and internationally including: (Off-Broadway) A.R.T.\/NY, Atlantic Theatre Stage 2, The Bushwick Starr, Roundabout Theatre Company, New York City Opera, Playwrights Horizons, Classic Stage Company, Cedar Lake Dance, Marvel Repertory Theatre, (International) Southwark Playhouse; UK (Regional) Warren Miller Performing Arts Center, MT; Mount Baker Repertory Theatre, WA; Montana Shakespeare in the Parks, MT; Coeur d’Alene Summer Theatre, ID; Idaho Repertory Theatre, ID.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Courtney\u2019s designs have received several Meritorious Achievement Awards from the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival. Additionally, his work received a \u201cDistinguished Achievement Award in Design\u201d from the Kennedy Center in Washington DC. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Some of Courtney\u2019s notable projects include work for Victoria\u2019s Secret, Mercedes Benz Fashion Week, and window display design & fabricator for Saks 5th<\/sup> Ave.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Courtney is a member of United States Institute of Theatre Technology (USITT) and has an MFA in design & technology from the University of Idaho.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
