Students iterated biology-inspired designs. Examples shown include gloves inspired by penguin tongues and acoustic phone amplifiers inspired by the hyoid bone of a howler monkey.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

HIST 295: Montezuma’s Mexico – Aztecs and their World<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Support for this class included printing a large Aztec calendar, small models of the ancient city of Tenochtitlan, and assisting student projects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

AVC S29: Architectural Visualization<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Students learned basic 3D modeling skills and worked in groups to model historically significant architecture from around the world. They created physical models from their files from 3D printed and laser cut parts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

PSYC S34: Psychology of Aging<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Students visited the VizLab to experience a virtual reality experiential application, Dementia First Hand (Yn Fy Nwylo I), a project funded by the Welsh Government to create an accurate portrayal of what it feels like to experience dementia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Practicum in Virtual Reality: Design and Fabrication for Virtual Space<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Students learned the basics of modeling and texturing in Autodesk Maya, explored social spaces and design tools in virtual reality headsets, and completed a collaborative realtime virtual environment with 3D models which could be experienced in virtual reality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
