Update on the Bates Fund

Bates College’s monthly newsletter for its fundraising volunteers.

All Schools Win in March Mania

Colby, Trinity, Connecticut, and Bates colleges battled it out over March to see who could capture, in one month, the greatest number of gifts from BOLD (Bobcats of the Last Decade) alumni in the classes of 2001-2010. While Trinity won the competition with 1,002 gifts, Bates finished third, beating last year’s performance with 733 gifts from young alumni! Led by BOLD co-chairs Ed Walker ’02, Phil Barr ’05, Margot Sakoian ’09, and Alicia Doukeris ’07, Bates Class Agents called, e-mailed, and texted their friends to encourage them to cast their vote for Bates with a gift to the Bates Fund.   • Volunteer who has raised the most money:  Kathy Whelan P’05 with nearly $54,000

Volunteer Leadership Summit

Mount David Society Recognition Dinners

More details on upcoming recognition dinners for Mount David Society donors are online. Upcoming Appeals

New class-specific Bates Fund appeals encouraging alumni to “claim their place” among classmates who have already given or pledged this fiscal year will be mailed on April 18. The mailing will include a list of FY11 Bates Fund donors to date.

Parents will receive a letter from Parents Fund co-chairs Jim and Cherry Karlson P’13 and Bob and Kathy Whelan P’05.

Now is a great time to follow up with assigned donors to secure a gift or pledge!
