(2022, January 13). <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.lookingforwisdom.com\/ubuntu\/\">Desmond Tutu, ubuntu and the possibility of hope<\/a>. <\/em>Looking for wisdom.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This article provides an overview of the African philosophy of &#8220;Ubuntu,&#8221; as described by&nbsp;Desmond&nbsp;Tutu. The philosophy supports the importance of &#8220;belonging,&#8221; &#8220;a delicate network of relationships,&#8221; and &#8220;interdependence&#8221; as a contrast to Euro-centric&nbsp;centering on the individual that can come at the expense of a communal centering.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-bates-shortcodes-btn btn-wrap\"><div class=\"btn-action\"><h3 class=\"btn-title\">Dimensions of Wellness<\/h3><div class=\"btn-arrow\"><\/div><\/div><div class=\"btn-content\">\n<p><strong>Hettler, B., Weston, C., Carini, J., &amp; Amundson, J. (1980).<a href=\"http:\/\/www.jstor.org\/stable\/44952417\"> Wellness Promotion on a University Campus<\/a>.&nbsp;<em>Family and Community Health<\/em>,&nbsp;<em>3<\/em>(1), 77\u201395.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dr. Bill Hettler, co-founder of the National Wellness Institute, writes about the implementation of an early iteration of the Dimensions of Wellness framework, utilizing six dimensions, on a college campus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Stoewen, D. (2021, August 23). <a href=\"https:\/\/www.smithsonianmag.com\/smithsonian-institution\/relationship-between-race-and-wellness-has-never-been-more-pressing-180978490\/\">The relationship between race and wellness has never been more pressing<\/a>. <em>Smithsonian Magazine.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This article cites Simone Biles and Naomi Osaka&#8217;s public conversations about their mental health as an opportunity to explore the relationship between race and wellness.
