{"id":1187,"date":"2016-11-07T11:47:48","date_gmt":"2016-11-07T16:47:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.bates.edu\/wordpress\/?p=1187"},"modified":"2023-08-17T10:54:59","modified_gmt":"2023-08-17T14:54:59","slug":"any-editor-can-add-a-new-user","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bates.edu\/wordpress\/2016\/11\/07\/any-editor-can-add-a-new-user\/","title":{"rendered":"Any Editor Can Add a New User"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>&#8220;Can I have editing access to this site?&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>The most common question we&#8217;ve been receiving about WordPress is, &#8220;Can I have editing access to this site?&#8221; So far, the answer has always been, &#8220;Yes.&#8221; Going forward, the answer won&#8217;t change, but the person granting access will.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Given how popular requests for access are, and how reliable&nbsp;our current user base is, the WebTeam has made the decision to open up&nbsp;the process of granting editing access to www.bates.edu sites. In other words, the WebTeam won&#8217;t be the only group granting access: You and your colleagues will be able to grant access as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Let&#8217;s say, for example, that you&#8217;re a new employee in the&nbsp;Office of College Advancement who will be working on a few of their websites and needs access to do so. While the WebTeam is still the college&#8217;s central web governance team, regarding the specific topic of access, the community has demonstrated that it can govern itself.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Opening the process of granting editing access will increase website-related communication within office, departments, and programs.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p>*Users with the role of <em>Manager<\/em> or <em>Administrator<\/em> have permission to add users.
