Latest NewsKnortz selected to play in East-West All-Star Game 5/28/2009
LEWISTON, Maine -- Bates senior defender Matt Knortz has been selected to play in the prestigious NEILA East-West All-Star Lacrosse Game, which includes some of the top players from Divisions I, II and III. The game is being played on May 31 at Tufts University, but Knortz is graduating from Bates the same day and will be unable to play. Knortz (East Granby, Conn.) was the Bobcats' most reliable defender and one of the team's four captains, along with John Adams, Nate Kellogg and Sean O’Brien. A three-year starter on the Bates defense, Knortz has improved his ground-ball total in every season, and finished the 2009 season with a team- and career-high 48 ground balls. Earlier this month, Knortz became the Bobcats' first All-NESCAC defender since his former teammates B.J. Majeski '06 and Ryan O'Connor '06 both earned Second Team honors in 2006. |
