The Bobcats fell to A.S.R. Nereus of the Netherlands on Thursday in the Round of 16 of the Temple Challenge Cup, a day after outpacing Trinity College of Dublin, Ireland, by three lengths.

While 34 years separated the Bates graduations of Jim Murphy '69 and Carla Flaherty '03, they both say they share the same ideas about coaching. That's part of the reason both are enthused about becoming the co-head coaches of the Bates women's soccer team this season.

 Bates ranks high in final Directors' Cup standings Jun. 25 -
Bates College ranked 57th out of the 310 NCAA Division III schools that scored points, as the final standings of the 2008-09 Learfield Sports Directors' Cup were released by the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA). It is Bates' highest final standing in the rankings since 2006.

 Women's rowing claims second place at NCAAs May 30 -
Bates had its best showing ever in the NCAA Division III Women's Rowing Championships, claiming second place in both the team standings and in the Grand Final in convincing fashion on Saturday. Both of Bates' two boats fared the best they ever had in this, the Bobcats' third (and third straight) appearance at NCAAs.
