How do I connect to the Bates VPN (Virtual Private Network)?

Information and Library Services offers VPN (Virtual Private Network) software to Faculty and Staff who need to access network resources from off campus. The VPN software can only be installed on Bates owned computers.

With the VPN software, you can access file servers, printers, and licensed software.

If you have a Bates owned computer and you would like to access network resources from off campus, please contact Help Desk Services at (207) 786-8222 or via email at helpdesk@bates.edu and they would be glad to assist you with the installation of the VPN software.

Please Note:

  • While using the VPN software, all network traffic travels back to campus and then out to the desired destination. This may make certain websites slower than normal.
  • Please be sure to disconnect from the VPN when not in use. This is a shared resource with a limited number of simultaneous connections.
