Paris: How to Check Your Quota

A. To check your quota status on Paris, do the following:

1. Login to your PC
2. Open Putty to host abacus.bates.edu (using SSH, click dot in radio button)
3. Click Open
4. When prompted, enter your Bates username, and press ENTER
5. When prompted, enter your Bates password, and press ENTER
   NOTE: Your password will not be visible as you type it
6. At the bash 3.2$ or netapp/students/username prompt, type quota and press ENTER
7. You will see the following: quota 50k
8. The quickest and easiest way to make more room is to delete files from your account

If you are unable to delete enough files to make additional space, you can request a quota increase by contacting Help Desk Services (helpdesk@bates.edu). Please indicate the amount of space you will need for your project/thesis, etc. We will be glad to process the request for you.
