Windows XP Updates: Trusted Sites
Windows updates are critically important for the protection of your home computer, and should be reviewed and installed routinely. In order to safely be able to do work at home with Bates applications we recommend the following steps be done in Internet Explorer. Other sites can be added to this list in the same manner, or you may choose to simply click ok to pop-ups asking if a site is trusted.
A. Open Internet Explorer:
- Under Tools, click on Internet Options
- Click on the Security tab
- Click on Sites

B. In Trusted Sites:
- Type *.bates.edu into Add this Web site to the zone:
- Click Add
- *.bates.edu will appear under Web Sites:
- Repeat process for other domain names if needed
- Click to place a checkmark in Require server verification (https:)…
- Click OK
- Click Apply, then OK to exit the Internet Options box
