Athletics

The Bates Campaign provides a powerful opportunity to generate the resources required to better fund our teams, provide additional coaching support, and ensure that all student-athletes can participate fully in the activities of their teams.

Athletics are an important dimension of life at Bates. They play a strategic role in attracting students through Bates’ membership in the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC). They help develop the qualities of leadership and collaboration and a strong work ethic in Bates students who participate on teams, whether varsity, club, or intramural. They promote the health and wellness of the entire college community through access to programming and facilities that support fitness. Athletics also generate engagement with the college by alumni, parents, and the broader public. Gifts to the campaign will allow us to strengthen athletic facilities and operations.
