Internships

Internship opportunities help students explore interests, build critical skills, develop networks, and complement their studies with real-world experience in a wide range of professional fields.

In the past year alone, more than 300 Bates students explored interests through summer experiences including internships, research grants, and community engagement projects – many of which were funded by the college. Whether through Purposeful Work or other college programs, access to summer learning opportunities is a key element of the Bates experience.

When surveyed, a vast majority of students cited internships as crucial to their pursuit of postgraduate opportunities. These experiences also provide space for experimentation, helping students fine-tune academic plans in real-time. Endowed funds raised through The Bates Campaign will sustain current internship programming and expand opportunities to more students.
