Instructions for Re-Application
If you have applied to Bates within the past two years, then you may reapply by reactivating your application for consideration, regardless of the previous decision. You will not need to submit a new application, but will need to update your previous one. Here are the steps:
- Notify the admissions office in writing of your intention. Include the year of your original application in your letter. You can either email us at admissions@bates.edu or send us a letter to: Bates College Admissions Office, Lindholm House, 23 Campus Ave., Lewiston, Maine 04240.
- Three recommendations: two from college professors and one from a dean or adviser;
- Updated financial aid documentation;
- An essay describing your current activities (i.e. schooling, work, etc.) and why you want to transfer to Bates;
- Official college transcript and mid-year grade estimates signed by your current professors;
- Course catalog with specific descriptions of courses taken at your current institution;
- Statement of Good Standing (a letter from an academic official of the current school that indicates that the applicant is in good standing at the school);
- While not required, we recommend that you revise your essay response to the Bates Supplemental question about your interest in applying to Bates.
Please note that students who reactivate a previous application are not required to submit the $60 application fee again.
