The Department of Art and Visual Culture has had a few changes within its faculty.
Paul Heroux, a ceramicist who taught at Bates for 30 years, retired in June 2012. The department welcomes Susan Dewsnap as a new ceramic artist succeeding Paul. Susan comes from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
Associate Professor Ned Harwood is on sabbatical leave for the 2012-13 academic year, while Becky Corrie, Phillips Professor of Art and Visual Culture, returns after a year of conducting research and writing.
Finally, Visiting Assistant Professor Beata Niedzialkowska will stay for another year, offering a modern art course among her other courses.
