The 2000-01 Bates College Concert Series continues with the world-renowned Musicians from Marlboro. The touring extension of the famed Marlboro Music School and Festival in Vermont will perform at 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 26, at the Olin Arts Center Concert Hall, 75 Russell St. The performance is part of the college's six-concert series of classical, jazz and world music that runs through March 29. Tickets are $12 for general admission and $8 for students or seniors, and can be reserved by calling 207-786-6252.

"Almost an Evening of Jazz," a concert of jazz standards and original works, will be performed by Sandy Parakilas, Nils van Otterloo and Ethan Rowe at 7:30 p.m. May 5, in the Olin Arts Center Concert Hall, 75 Russell St. The public is invited to attend the free concert.

One of the most acclaimed young saxophonists on the contemporary jazz scene will perform in concert at 8 p.m. Saturday, March 1, in the Bates College Chapel. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at the Olin Arts Box Office.

The innovative Dale Bruning Trio will present a jazz concert at Bates College on March 2 at 8 p.m. in the Olin Arts Concert Hall. The trio, composed of Bruning of Longmont, Colo., on guitar, Sam Sherry of Cape Elizabeth on bass and Steve Grover of Augusta, winner of the 1994 Thelonious Monk Institute of Jazz/BMI Jazz Composers Competition, on drums, will perform a variety of jazz standards as well as original compositions by Bruning.
