Wu Hung, professor in the College of the Humanities at the University of Chicago, offers a lecture on the Bates College Museum of Art exhibit "Documenting China: Contemporary Photography and Social Change" at 7:30 p.m. Friday, March 12, in the Lower Gallery of the museum, Olin Arts Center, 75 Russell St.

'Monsoon Wedding' screening rescheduled

The acclaimed Indian romantic film "Monsoon Wedding," whose screening at Bates College was postponed last week, has been rescheduled for 6 p.m. Friday, Jan. 30, in Room 105, Olin Arts Center, 75 Russell St.

Fireworks, concert highlight Lunar New Year fete at Bates

Through Jan. 31, the student organization Sangai Asia celebrates the Lunar New Year with Bates Asian Week, a festival including a concert by singer Magdalen Hsu-Li, a lecture on democracy in China and a neighborhood fireworks display, all open to the public at no charge.

Comedy of medieval Japan to be performed at Bates

The Department of German, Russian And East Asian Languages and Literatures, in conjunction with the Asian studies program at Bates College, presents "Kyogen: Comedy of Medieval Japan" to be performed by the International Classical Theater from Lawrence, Kansas, at 4:30 p.m. Saturday, April 1, in the Alumni Gymnasium at Bates College. The public is invited to attend free of charge.
