AI Working Group
Charge of Artificial Intelligence Working Group
Purpose
This group will enable Bates to engage systematically with issues around artificial intelligence in higher education, including curriculum, pedagogy, student assessment, ethics, data security, and the daily work of college employees.
Goals and Deliverables
- Build a community articulation of the ways that our institutional values inform our choices around AI. This articulation can serve as an overarching set of principles within which more specific policies or guidelines can be framed by standing committees, departments, or offices.
- Assess the needs of the college with respect to AI, as they exist currently and as the landscape changes.
- Prioritize the needs as they are identified.
- Map the needs onto existing committees or offices, and support those entities in taking up that work.
- Create communication plans for relaying the work of this group and for facilitating conversations across other committees, departments, and offices.
