Lush open area with majestic trees.
The Bates Quadrangle, or “Quad,” is a lush open area with many majestic trees. The quad is a spectacular sight in Autumn, and a gentle spot for outdoor classes in late Spring.
This open space is surrounded by many of Bates’ oldest buildings, including Rand Hall and the Chapel to the west, Parker, Hathorn, and Dana Chemistry to the north, Coram Library and Carnegie Science to the east, and Lindholm House and Milliken and Whittier House to the south.
The path in front of the Chapel is in full bloom in late May.
Autumn turns the Quad into a glorious display of colors each year.
