Uriel Gonzalez '11 prepares to hang his work for the Annual Senior Exhibition in the Bates College Musuem of Art. Gonzalez combines his love of two media by drawing on a transparency that he superimposes on a photo he has taken. While his work taps indigenous art from Mexico, Central and South America, he has also been influenced by the Mexican tattoo artist Dr. Lakra.

Learning to see things from other people's perspectives is an important part of a Bates education, says Hansen, so each year she asks a student to zoom in on the details of Bates' administrative affairs while she follows that student's schedule around campus.
