Community Programs

The Student Center for Belonging and Community (SCBC) hosts and collaborates with campus partners, student leaders and the Lewiston community to provide an array of events to meet the needs for all students to learn, grow and participate.

The SCBC hires, trains and supports student leaders, Community Navigators, who help to welcome and maintain an inclusive and open community. Learn more about the Community Navigators on the side panel.

See below for some of the SCBC’s signature events. To keep up with these events, follow up on Instagram and connect with us on Bates Engage.

This event typically happens during the first week of the Fall semester where the SCBC welcomes new students and welcomes back returning students, faculty and staff to set intention for the new school year and bridge previous and new connections. Join the fun and festivities every September!

Stay tuned for communications about the upcoming reception.

Frozen Friday happens every first Friday of the month in the SCBC kitchen. During the Summer months, we take a walking trip over to Dairy Joy. This event is a reminder that academics can be tough and sometimes its nice to take a break and share in a sweet treat.

Community Dinners are monthly appreciation events where we cater food or purchase ingredients and make a meal in the SCBC kitchen. Timing of these events will vary.
