Campus Visits and Events
Experience what Bates is all about. There is no better way to understand Bates College than by spending time on our campus.
Come take a full campus tour, learn about the admission and financial aid in detail, speak with students working diligently on their theses, and enjoy a meal in Commons!
During your visit, take the opportunity to observe the day-to-day life of students here. Go to the library and see how students interact. Eat lunch in the dining hall, New Commons. Sit down at any table and strike up a conversation. Attend a concert, a lecture or a game! This trip is what you make of it. Be proactive. Speak to strangers. Ask a few questions, and then ask some more. We offer a variety of ways for you to experience campus life throughout the year. See details below.
Open Houses
We invite you to join the entire Bates community for a campus tour, group information sessions, faculty and student panels, meet Bates students and try our delicious food during one of our Open Houses. This is a great time to learn more about Bates academics and to have your many questions answered.

Campus tours
Student-led tours are one hour long and depart from the Admission Office, Lindholm House, 23 Campus Avenue. Please arrive 10 minutes early. Reservations are not needed for campus tours.
Please note that from Monday, June 10, 2013 to Friday, August 30, 2013, Lindholm House will be open to the public from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Weekdays
- April 1, 2013 – June 7, 2013 at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. (no tours May 27)
- June 10, 2013 – August 30, 2013 tours at 9 a.m., 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. (no tours July 4)
- September 3, 2013 – October 11, 2013 tours at 9 a.m., 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. (no tours September 2)
- October 14, 2013 – October 18, 2013 tours at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.
- October 21, 2013 – November 15, 2013 tours at 9 a.m., 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.
- November 25, 2013 – December 13, 2013 tours at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. (no tours November 18 – November 22)
Information sessions
- Weekdays, July 5, 2013 – August 30, 2013 information sessions at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.
Information sessions are led by an Admission representative and last 45 minutes. This is a great time to learn more about Bates academics, the college application process, and to have your many questions answered. Please note that the venue of the information session may change depending on the size of the group.

Admission interviews
We encourage prospective students to schedule an interview with a representative from our Admission Office. The interview offers students the opportunity to ask questions about their areas of interest and about the application process. We offer interviews both on-campus and off-campus, and all interviews are weighted equally. Bates interviews are evaluative and last 30-45 minutes. Call the Office of Admission to request your interview. Please note that from Monday, June 10, 2013 to Friday, August 30, 2013, the Office of Admission will be open to the public from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
For rising high school seniors and transfer applicants:
On-campus interviews are offered from June 17, 2013 to November 22, 2013. If you are unable to schedule an on-campus interview, or would like to interview after November, you may interview with a Bates alumni representative throughout the United States and abroad. Please call the Office of Admission at 1-855-BATES-55 (1-855-228-3755) to request your interview.
For rising high school juniors:
On-campus interviews will be offered starting in January 2014. Note, there will be limited interview opportunities during Bates February break. If you are unable to schedule an on-campus interview you may interview with a Bates alumni representative throughout the United States and abroad.
