In New York city, Jeremy Chase works at Bear Stearns & Co. as an equity research analyst, following the medical device industry…. Dan and Kim Peard Coccolutowelcomed a baby brother for daughter Lauren in October….Aaron Humphrey just bought a house and is in training for a trip to Tibet this summer. If all goes well, he will climb and ski an unclimbed 6,500-meter peak, as well as a few smaller peaks en route…. David and Julie Ann Ott Shaw bought a house in Auburn, and spent the summer getting it ready for their new daughter, Savannah Rose. After finishing as an assistant teacher with autistic children in the summer, Julie Ann now works full time for her master’s in special education at the Univ. of Southern Maine…. Melanie Fleming Sachs loves being a full-time mom. Drew continues to work at the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to pay for daughter Deidre’s tuition at Bates in 2016! They saw Nancy Collins True over the holidays when she was in D.C. visiting relatives…. Now a senior associate, Jennifer Shepard Pounders was recently promoted to team leader at Carter Ryley Thomas PR. Jennifer specializes in wireless telecommunications and travel/tourism clients…. In JanuaryJyotika Vazirani began work at the Washington (D.C.) Medical Center department of infectious diseases. Since she graduated from Howard Univ. School of Nursing in 1995, she has been a HIV/AIDS public health nurse in Alexandria, Va. In 1996 she ran and finished the Marine Corps marathon, says it is time to do it again and invites anyone to join her in training…. Last October Sue Vitters started a new job as senior account executive at Weber Public Relations Worldwide representing Marshalls. Sue lives in Central Square, Cambridge, spends a lot of time in Boston with Steve Moore and Dave Butterworth ’92, and is psyched thatMichael Edgar ’90 and Dave Owen have recently moved to Cambridge.

In his fifth year at Duke, Matt Grove looks forward to Reunion…. Hope Guardenier teaches outdoor education in the redwoods on the central coast of California…. Maureen Gwinn is in the research phase of her Ph.D., loves the work, and says “it must be all the cute dental students.” She has great travel opportunities also…. Rachel Hampe is in the civil litigation department at Rauleson & Middleton PA in New Hampshire…. Linton Harrington finished a year teaching high school in Costa Rica before traveling through Central America. Also in San Francisco, Carey Linder is an aquatic biologist at Steinhart Aquarium caring for penguins, harbor seals, and tropical sharks…. Polly Macgregor teaches art at an elementary shool in Austin, Texas – 600 kids – “it’s crazy, but I love it!”… In Denver, Anne Macomber works for McCalin Finlon Advertising, “skiing a ton.” She and John bought an old “fixer-upper” Victorian house….In Yarmouth, Rick Magnuson teaches fourth grade and loves living in the Portland area…. Wife Amanda Nickerson is in her third year of grad school…. idore writes of life changes in the last two years. “I quit my editing job in reference publishing and moved to rural Virginia. I received a fellowship to study at George Mason Univ. and am now one year into my M.F.A. in fiction writing. I also teach English composition at the university. I got married in the Caribbean March 1998 to my longtime high-school sweetheart, Steven Sidore. He is studying for his Ph.D. in German language at UVA. We rent a large farm in an area that makes Lewiston look downright metropolitan and are loving life with our view of the mountains from our porch and a puppy named Chaucer. Should anyone be visiting/living in the D.C./Charlottesville area we would love to see them.”… Living in Venice, Calif., with Duncan White ’95, Ayr Robinson completed her second documentary , this one calledCABARET: The Little Known New York Musical Venue. Duncan works on Roger Corman’s “Black Scorpions.”… In New York City, Scott Rose is a litigation associate at Willkie, Farr & Gallagher. Previously he was a clerk with Judge Frederic Block in the U.S. District Court of the Eastern District…. After working at Science Applications International Corp. in Newport, R.I., last summer, Kurt Rosenberger now has a full-time job there…. Pratibah Singh Sampeur writes of her wedding. She and Richard ’95 had two separate “but equally wonderful” ceremonies honoring both Christian and Hindu faiths with plenty of Batesies in attendance…. Mike Silverson is a project manager of translation and interpreting assignments at the University Language Center in Minneapolis…. Last summer Carter Smith resigned from the U.S. State Department to attend grad school where “many times I feel like I am drinking from a fire hose.”… Last October, Karen Sternfeld and partner Nicky Henderson moved from London to Bristol where Nicky works as an orthodontist. Karen is looking for a job in an environmental agency to make use of her chemistry degree…. Katherine Templeton is an officer at Security State Bank & Trust Co. in Montana, where all of the remediation and testing for Y2K has fallen on her shoulders. Moving to Arlington, Va.,Joy Ardizzonne has a new job as a production assistant at the NewsHour with Jim Lehrer…. In Seattle, Alison Brooksworks in college recruiting at Microsoft and “always looking for more Batesies to recruit.”… After a trip to New Zealand and an internship in Galveston, Texas, at a marine mammal research program, Kara Buckstaff worked on an organic herb and vegetable farm in Falmouth, and now is a research assistant in the dolphin biology department at Mote Marine Lab in Sarasota, Fla., with part-time work at a veterinary clinic…. Deborah Cantor works in the history department of Barnes & Noble in Manhattan and plays the bassoon in a trio…. In her last six months as a Peace Corps volunteer in St. Vincent, Becca Cheezum has developed a domestic violence crisis center and hotline for women, created a curriculum for schools about domestic violence, and trained counselors for the center and hotline…. Audrey Chen is still at Deutsche Bank Securities doing sell-side equity research. In March she went to Singapore with her mom, then on to Jamaica….Heather Chichester enjoys her classes and research on the Atlantic right whale at the New England Aquarium….Sharleen Davis has a teaching job in Harvard Square, is working on her Peace Corps application, and is heavily involved with a battered women’s shelter, where she does overnight shifts and leads a support group for survivors….Gretchen DeHart says that being at a large university has made her appreciate her Bates experience…. In East Providence, R.I., Maggie Doben teaches first grade at Gordon School…. Since last July, Zach Feldman has been with Clipper Cruise Line based in St. Louis, Mo. As cruise director, he also can sail to all sorts of exotic ports from Alaska to Mexico, Costa Rica, Panama, Venezuela, and the Caribbean…. In the years since graduation, Kevin Finn has worked as a Congressional intern, lived in Japan for three months with the same family he had been with before, biked to many local nature sites, and continued his nature photography. Last spring he spent five hours every morning for a week in the D.C. area photographing a family of osprey and their nest…. Chris Gailey works for the Appalachian Mountain Club, and lives in the Boston area…. In Spring Green, Wis.,Annalee Gunlicks teaches eighth-grade civics and also coaches the eighth grade basketball team…. Liz Guntherteaches science, is the assistant marching band director, and coach of the high school’s Academic Decathlon team…. Dina Hanna is a liaison officer at the New York City Commission for the United Nations and is a liaison between Mayor Giuliani and the U.N. and consular corps community…. Richard Holley spent a year in Prague, the Czech Republic, as a senior project executive at a Czech-owned market research agency. “It was an amazing experience and, though difficult at first, I soon came to fall in love with Europe.” He encourages everyone to tour Europe, avoid the tourist traps and “go see where people really live and work.”… Karen Janke is a member of Carlson Marketing Group’s travel staff, about 120 people who travel the country and world, producing incentive travel trips, special events, and business meetings. This May, she’s planned a 30-day trip to Australia…. Deb Jones writes that she gave up her job with Coca-Cola and now works for a tiny little jewel of an ad agency on Beacon Hill…. In Washington, D.C., Sarah Kane works at AARP…. Abby Kranz is with an industrial psychology firm in Atlanta…. In New York City, Lydia Langford is at J. Walter Thompson working on the Lubriderm/Schick and J&B Scotch accounts. Previously she had been in the Reebok advertising department…. After working at UltraNew Communications Inc., John “Kurt” Loether now does network technical support for Vital Network Services Inc. (General DataCom Industries Inc.)…. Since October 1998, Jennifer Long has been a publicity assistant at Alfred A. Knopf…. WhitneyMacdonald has moved to Australia after a year as a medical research assistant at the Rockefeller Univ. in New York City…. In addition to grad school, Marney MacDougal has an internship doing outreach counseling with adolescents and families…. On a trip to Europe last summer, Kate McCann ended up in Ljubljana, Slovenia, where she teaches business English in various companies and government offices and is an editor in a translating agency. “Slovenia is an amazing country.”… In Burlington, Vt.,Kirsten McKeown is a technical writer for a healthcare software company…. In March, Gina McMahon was to act in a show for the Breakthrough Theater of Boston…. After doing biomedical research at various institutes, Tammy Deen Moscrip is at the National Institutes of Health training monkeys on complex behavioral/cognitive tasks. The monkeys are part of a longitudinal aging study to assess whether calorie restriction can reduce/slow the aging process both physiologically and cognitively…. Jared Nelson works for Spinergy, a bicycle wheel company…. Happily living in France, Lauren Newhart is marketing assistant for Atlas Telecom in Aix-en-Provence…. Melissa Niles is a telco analyst at GTE Internet working in Cambridge, Mass., putting her biology degree to good use…. In Japan, Catherine Noerteaches English in an English school with students from ages 4 to 70. She lives with a Japanese family about two hours north of Tokyo…. Living with a family there, he is learning to speak Turkmen and to play the piano….
