Fitzgerald of Chilmark, Mass., prints forms inspired by the ocean onto found nautical maps.
Having grown up on an island, she calls nature the inspiration for her printmaking: “For me, art and nature became synonymous. My goal is to create balance, flow and interesting areas for the eyes to rest.” Exploiting varying levels of ink opacity and original map markings, her pieces are colorful and unexpected.
