May 6: COVID-19 Update

Dear Students, Faculty and Staff,

As you have likely seen, we continue to experience a number of students testing positive for COVID-19. The positivity rate for student testing on Tuesday, May 3, was 1.8% and on Thursday, May 5, was 0.8%. While the decline in our positivity rate across these two testing days is welcome news, as of yesterday afternoon we have 38 active student cases and 11 active employee cases. Further, transmission rates for Maine and Androscoggin Country remain elevated..  The operations to support these students (i.e., isolation coordination, food delivery, academic planning and coordination, accessing medical care) continue to be significant and challenging.  With these issues in mind, we will continue with our public policies as outlined in our message sent to you on April 27. We will monitor our COVID-19 test results next week and provide you with an update by Friday, May 13.

For students, if you have questions and are not sure where to direct them, please email, and you will be connected to the right person to assist you. For faculty and staff, please email

Thank you for your continued cooperation and patience as we continue to navigate the challenges and complexities associated with COVID-19.

All the best,

Joshua McIntosh
