Eligible Applicants:

• Enrolled Bates students (including those in approved JYA/JSA programs during application or conference dates).
• Recent alumni presenting Bates-conducted research, provided the conference occurs within one year post-graduation.

Requirements & Funding Priority:

Requires a faculty recommendation.

Priority is given to applicants presenting thesis or senior capstone research.

Ineligible Expenses:

• Faculty or research director costs.

Budget Guidelines & Covered Expenses:

• Applications require a detailed, completed budget form.
• Eligible Costs: Abstract submission fees, virtual registration, ground/air travel, lodging, and meals (capped at $60/day with receipts; $35/day without).

Award Limits & Policies:

• Funding Caps: Up to $500 for regional conferences and $1,500 for national conferences (exceptions considered on a case-by-case basis).
• Frequency: Limit one funded conference per student per academic year.

To submit a complete application, provide the following:

• Completed Online Form
• Research Abstract
• Conference Details (title, sponsoring organization, and dates)
• Conference Description
• Statement of Purpose (reasons for presenting at this conference)
• Detailed Budget (with completed Budget Form attached)
• Faculty Support (recommendation from a faculty member or research director)

Note: Award decisions are typically announced within 2–3 weeks of the application deadline.

• Receipts are required for all reimbursements.
• Reimbursement requests must be submitted within two weeks of the expense date.
• All travel-related reimbursements must be processed via Adobe Sign (Adobe Sign Instructions).
