Admission Counselor

Raised on Long Island, New York, Katy grew up loving the ocean. Family vacations brought her to the Catskill mountains and prompted her passion for hiking. Though she originally wanted to study education, with the help of the liberal arts education and this love of the outdoors, Katy pursued an earth science degree at Vassar College. While at Vassar, she hoped to become an environmental educator, as she experienced the joys of working with and teaching children about nature. However, she soon began as a tour guide, working in the Vassar Office of Admission for three years. There, Katy found a passion for admission work, meeting and guiding prospective students and their families through the college search process. Also having grown up in an Asian American household, she has strong values in creating diverse and inclusive environments where students can learn and thrive. From having the opportunity to explore the state of Maine, to sharing her love of the liberal arts, Katy is proud to be part of the Bates College Office of Admission!
Outside of work, you can find Katy exploring a new hiking trail or knitting her next project (or one that has been on the needles for months). She is also an avid foodie, always cooking up different dishes as she loves to try new sweet and salty combinations.
