A Collaborative Approach to Health and Safety

Bates College mission statement states that we educate “the whole person through creative and rigorous scholarship in a collaborative residential community.”

To fulfill the residential imperative of our mission in light of the global COVID-19 pandemic, we must work collaboratively to safeguard the health and safety of our campus community and our surrounding communities by following directions of public health and college officials.

This website is designed to present a set of policies, procedures, and actions that, taken together, will give Bates students the tools and knowledge you need to safeguard your individual health and well-being, and that of the community,  during the pandemic.

Following this guidance gives us the best chance to be able to work, study, live, and learn together, productively and safely, in a collaborative residential community.

The information on these pages in many cases offers an overview of these policies; more detailed information is available on respective Bates websites.

Following this guidance, which emphasizes proven controls, good hygiene, and college policies, gives us the best chance to mitigate opportunities for transmission of COVID-19  so that we are able to work, study, live, and learn together, productively and safely, in a collaborative residential community.
