HONORS NOMINATION DEADLINE

  • Advisors – Recommendation forms must be submitted via the online Nomination form.
  • Any nomination after this date will be refused unless the Honors Study Committee grants an exception. Recommendation forms must be submitted via the online form found here: https://www.bates.edu/honors/honors-student-nomination-form/
  • Advisors should check with potential Outside Examiners regarding their availability for the pertinent exam period before submitting a Nomination Form.

HONORS ORIENTATION 
Honors Thesis nominees will gather to meet members of the Honors Committee, receive information, and have a Q&A session. Advisors, especially Advisors new to the Honors Program, are welcome to attend.

HONORS THESIS ABSTRACT DRAFT SUBMISSION

  • Deadline for candidates to submit a titled, one-paragraph description (250 words maximum) of the thesis.
  • One-paragraph descriptions must be uploaded here as a Microsoft Word document or a PDF.

EXAM PANEL REGISTRATION AND OUTSIDE EXAMINER TRAVEL REQUEST FORMS DUE

Monday, April 6, 2026
THESIS DEADLINE
No later than 4:00pm, upload the Honors thesis on SCARAB.  Step by step instructions.

Monday, April 13 – Friday, May 1, 2026
THESIS DEFENSE

Oral examinations for candidates who submitted a thesis. Additional information is available in the Oral Examination Protocol.

Wednesday, April 29, 2026
Send the Outside Examiner receipts to your Academic Administrative Assistant for processing.

Friday, May 1, 2026
CORRECTED THESIS AND THESIS CORRECTION & ACCESS AND EMBARGO FORMS DUE
No later than 4:00 pm:

  1. the Student uploads the final copy of the Honors thesis on SCARAB.  Step by step instructions.
  2. the Advisor submits the Thesis Correction Form (student signature is not needed)
  3. the Student initiates the Access and Embargo Form, which is then signed by the advisor(s) and candidate
