Christian Scientist discusses 'Building Unity Through Forgiveness'

Joni Overton-Jung, a spiritual healer in the Christian Science tradition, addresses the topic Building Unity Through Forgiveness at 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 30, in Room 162, Pettengill Hall. Presented by the college’s Christian Science Organization, the talk is open to the public at no charge.

Overton-Jung draws from a broad range of experience and research to speak about the impact of spirituality on individual awakening, activism and reform. She believes that personal thought and choice make a great difference not only to each individual but also to humankind, and that each person can make a significant contribution to human progress.

Now based in Toronto, she has worked in Botswana as a Peace Corps volunteer and in Chicago as a third-grade teacher, inner-city social advocate and volunteer chaplain at a mental health center. It was in that city that she entered the practice of spiritual healing as a Christian Science practitioner.
