Megan Taft
Megan Taft is the Acting Director for the Office of Intercultural Education.
Megan joins the Bates community from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where she worked with the GreenHouse residential learning community leading the development and implementation of a Women and Sustainability Lecture Series; the GreenHouse Global Village International Program; and Environmental Justice programming and curriculum. She also served as a co-facilitator/core committee member of the Student SEED (Seeking Educational Equity and Diversity) Seminar.
Prior to her work at the University of Wisconsin, Megan served as the Residence Director/ Liaison to the Center for Diversity and Inclusion at Edgewood College in Madison, WI. While at Edgewood, she worked to develop and implement a campus-wide Social Justice Program Series; co-sponsored and trained staff in an Inter-group Dialogue Series; organized and successfully advocated for a same-sex health insurance plan; and co-advised the Diversity Advocates Program. Megan received her B.S. degree from the University of New Hampshire, and her M.Ed. in Social Justice Education from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. She also has previous ties to Maine, having served as a Residential Director for the Kieve Leadership School in Nobleboro. When Megan is not on campus, she enjoys spending time with her partner Sara, exploring the Maine coast, running, swimming, and cooking.
