Historian to discuss African Americans in the American West

Quintard Taylor, the Knight Distinguished Professor of Liberal Arts and Sciences at the University of Oregon, will discuss African Americans in the American West on Wednesday, Oct. 28, at 7 p.m. in the Edmund S. Muskie Archives on the Bates College campus. The public is invited to attend free of charge.

Taylor received a Pulitzer Prize nomination for his book, In Search of the Racial Frontier: African Americans in the American West, 1528-1990. A reception and book signing will follow his talk, sponsored by the Bates College Office of Affirmative Action, the American cultural studies and African American studies programs, and the history department.
