Goodlatte gives raise to charities
The Daily News-Record of Harrisonburg, Va., reports that U.S. Rep. Bob Goodlatte ’74, R-Roanoke, gave $1,000 to the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Harrisonburg-Rockingham County. The donation is one of nine he’ll make to Virginia charities in 2009 funded by the automatic pay raise that Congress awards itself each year. Since 1993, Goodlatte has given away about $75,000 from his raises to more than 70 groups. The story notes that Goodlatte was a big brother while at Bates. (View Text)
