Following the service for the naming of the Peter J. Gomes Chapel and the inauguration of Bates’ eighth president, Clayton Spencer, Homecoming 2012 featured a wide range of activities and opportunities for good friends to get together, including:

• a panel on “The Intersecting Identities of the Rev. Peter J. Gomes: Navigating Race, Religion, Sexuality and Politics”

• a 31-6 Bates football victory over Colby

• Campus-wide concert featuring Universal Republic recording artist Dev
