Campus Construction Update, week of July 26: Garcelon Field

At the old Garcelon Field grandstand, the flagpoles were atop the press box behind the spectators. So anybody who wanted to gaze at Old Glory during the national anthem had to twist right around to see it. The renovated facility, says project manager Mike Gustin, will feature flagpoles behind the scoreboard, at the north end of the field. “Now you’ll just be able to look across the field,” Gustin says. “It’ll be nice.”

We all know that being able to deal effectively with boundary issues is key to a well-evolved personality.
The Garcelon Field renovation passed such a developmental milestone July 8 with the completion of its concrete “anchor curb.” This low concrete wall around the playing area, says project manager Mike Gustin, “kind of confines the field.”
